“Not Forgotten”
Once upon a time I prayed a prayer, saying “God how could you forget about me?”
Then, I heard a still voice say, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I fell to the floor when the prophetess echoed these words in answer to my weary prayer.
She said, “I’ll never forget about you.”
I apologize for how I accused you.
There is a perfect standard of faithfulness.
And my God, it is you.
Every now and then, I am tempted to believe that I am forgotten again.
What can I do when I’m overwhelmed by weariness but remember the words of the prophetess.
“I will never forget about you.”
Even the words of God himself, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I hold to your words with a firm grip.
Let only your truth flow from my lips
And let me not forget about the many gifts you have already bestowed upon me.
The greatest gift that you have ever given me was the gift of yourself.
In times of trouble, you are my very present help.
You sustain me
You refrain me.
You reframed me.
I was a wretched sinner because of the Adamic fall.
But you laid upon your only begotten Son the iniquities of us all.
He was and is and will forever be;
Faithful when I call.
He is the point of it all.
My trauma and pain was never His fault.
Ten times out of ten, it was me who had moments of forgetfulness concerning the faithfulness of God when I went through the tops and bottoms of life.
Father God, pardon my folly.
I am determined to always remember you, to keep you where my heart is;
to encourage my brothers and sisters, your sons and daughters;
That you never waver and never falter;
That our labor of love is not in vain;
That the One from above is consistent and never changes.
“Let us not be weary in well-doing. For, in due season, we will reap if we faint not” (Gal. 6:9)
